چکیده

The future of sustainable agriculture will increasingly rely on the integration of biotechnology with traditional agricultural practices. Most sustainable and environmentally acceptable control may be achieved using biocontrol agents due to the effort to reduce the use of agrochemicals and their residues in the environment and in food. Identifying, understanding and utilizing microorganisms or microbial products to control of plant diseases and to enhance crop production are integral parts of sustainable agriculture. Biological control has the potential to control crop diseases while causing no or minimal detrimental environmental impact. This review article states the role of antibiosis in biological control of plant diseases mediated by specific metabolites of microbial origin, as antibiotics, enzymes, volatile compounds or other toxic substances. Also, new evidence obtained with the modern tools of microbial genetics or molecular techniques, which can use to study the biocontrol mechanisms and improve the biocontrol activity, metabolites and products that could have important environmental benefits.

Plant-microbe interactions and the new biotechnological methods of plant disease control.

Plants constitute an excellent ecosystem for microorganisms. The environmental conditions offered differ considerably between the highly variable aerial plant part and the more stable root system. Microbes interact with plant tissues and cells with different degrees of dependence. The most interesting from the microbial ecology point of view, however, are specific interactions developed by plan...

Nitrilase enzymes and their role in plant–microbe interactions

Nitrilase enzymes (nitrilases) catalyse the hydrolysis of nitrile compounds to the corresponding carboxylic acid and ammonia, and have a wide range of industrial and biotechnological applications, including the synthesis of industrially important carboxylic acids and bioremediation of cyanide and toxic nitriles. Nitrilases are produced by a wide range of organisms, including plants, bacteria an...

RNA applications for endophytic research.

Endophytic microorganisms, mainly bacteria and fungi, have intrinsic relationships with the host plants, involving complex chemical and genetic communication networks. The relationship among these organisms involves the development of regulatory mechanisms of gene expression that control their development and response to different interactions. Although RNA molecules are already being used in s...

Effect of bio-fertilizers on performance of Dill (Anethum graveolens L.). Seyed Hosein Sokhangoy*, Khalil Ansari, Davood Eradatmand Asli

Biological fertilizers are compounds comprising various free living microorganisms that are able to change the basic nutrients into available form through biological procedures. Being an important source of nutrients in sustainable agriculture, these fertilizers lead to better seed germination and development of root system. In order to investigate the effect of biological fertilizers on the me...

Isolation, purification and identification of three diatom species (Bacillariophyceae) from Gomishan wetland (N. Iran) using phylogeny and silica cell wall ultra-structure analysis

Diatoms of Gomishan wetland (Golestan province, N. Iran), one of the most significant habitats in the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, has been isolated, purified and identified during 2013. Using serial dilution and streaking on F/2 medium, pure, monoalgal and axenic cultures of the isolates were prepared. The isolates were characterized and identified using micro-morphological studies on the...
